Full-Time Vice President for Campus Ministry and Community Engagement

Job Description

Methodist University, located in Fayetteville, North
Carolina, seeks applications for the position of Vice
President for Campus Ministry and Community Engagement.
The successful candidate will provide overall leadership,
planning, and management of the Church and Community
Engagement Office, report to the President, and serve on
the President’s Cabinet.

Founded in 1956, the University provides students with a
solid liberal arts education with a pre-professional
emphasis in a student-centered, faith-based environment.
The University actively cultivates intellectual, spiritual,
ethical, and aesthetic values in students; encourages the
deepest respect for the essential dignity, freedom, and
equality of every person; and enrolls qualified men and
women from all religious, racial, and ethnic backgrounds.
Today, the University enrolls approximately 2,400 students;
offers signature programs with over 80 majors and
concentrations; supports 19 NCAA Division III athletic
teams and more than 100 clubs and student organizations;
enrolls students from 44 states and 57 countries creating
outstanding campus diversity and producing record
enrollment (including record residential enrollment); and,
according to Campus Activities Magazine, has one of the Top
Three student activities programs in the country.

As part of a collaborative team, the Vice President for
Campus Ministry and Community Engagement works with all
areas on campus, and the local community, to develop
programs that integrate community engagement and church
relations and is also responsible for the overall
management and operation of church relation and community

The successful candidate must be ordained Methodist clergy;
at least 5-7 years of successful experience as a
church/community relations professional; exceptional
organizational skills; excellent written and oral
communication skills; a strong moral and ethical code of
behavior; demonstrated leadership skills; the ability to
handle stressful situations professionally; the ability to
maintain strict confidentiality; and the wisdom and
maturity to make wise choices in ambiguous situations.
He/she will not be deterred by long and irregular hours,
including frequent weekends, and will enjoy working with
university students.

Education:      Master’s Degree Required
Work Experience:      5-7 Years
