Student Services Associate 4 (Associate Director)

Reporting directly to the Senior Director of the Office of Student Conduct (OSC), and dotted line reporting to Residence Life, the Associate Director has primary responsibility for the oversight and administration of the conduct process in Penn State University’s residence hall community. Will provide consultation, direction, and guidance as needed to approximately thirty Residence Life staff members (i.e., Residence Life Coordinators, Area Coordinators, and Assistant Directors) at University Park and those who work in Residence Life at Penn State’s Commonwealth Campuses. Serve as a case manager for more serious student misconduct cases up to and including those that may result in a student’s separation from the University; conduct annual and ongoing trainings for Residence Life staff members in the administration of the conduct process as well as relevant policies, procedures, and laws. Work with Residence Life staff to coordinate residence hall educational outreach related to conduct issues; assists in the development and modification of Residence Life community standards policies; serve as a member of the OSC leadership team, and meets weekly with OSC and Residence Life central staffs. Serve as OSC staff member to respond to emergent conduct cases in the halls (e.g., cases involving Title IX, potential interim suspensions). May represent the Office of Student Conduct, the Office of Residence Life, and Student Affairs on various committees. Will supervise an Assistant Director in OSC and will serve as a primary liaison to the Counseling and Psychological Services office as well as Health Promotion and Wellness. Typically requires a Master’s degree or higher or higher plus five years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The successful candidate will have experience in managing serious conduct cases, experience with a residential setting, and experience in conducting investigations. Must have exceptional critical thinking skills and conflict resolution and problem solving skills and have the ability to work with a diverse population. Demonstrated knowledge of Title IX, Clery Act, FERPA and other applicable laws is essential. Strong organization skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to multi-task with competing priorities, and familiarity with computers and software are required.
