Full-Time Senior Coordinator for International Student Life

Job Description

The department of International Student Life (ISL) enhances the student-
learning environment through programs and services that internationalize the
campus experience. This work is accomplished through focused and
intentional efforts in three core areas:

• Transition & Support: Services and programs aimed at supporting
international students to assist with their ongoing transition to the University
of Georgia and life in the United States.

• Programming & Outreach: Opportunities and events designed for the
UGA and Athens communities to share, explore, and learn about cultures in
an effort to build an inclusive and internationalized campus.

• Leadership & Engagement: Volunteer and leadership opportunities that
promote global citizenship through individual growth, and cross cultural
learning and development.

International Student Life at UGA currently seeks to fill two (2) Senior
Coordinator positions within the office. The Senior Coordinators for
International Student Life are responsible for the coordination, development,
and implementation of a variety of programs and services that support the
internationalization of the university. Collectively, the Senior Coordinators
within the Office of International Student Life will be responsible for specific
responsibilities related to the core areas of the office’s work listed below.

Leadership and Engagement

Assist in the development of policies and leadership training that supports
student organizational success.

Serve as a primary advisor for a portion of ISL’s 25 international and
multinational student organizations including event management,
organizational leadership, marketing, development, and budget oversight.

Advise, oversee, and help manage Ethnic Night programming put on by ISL
student organizations.

Coordinate the Cultural Capacity Certificate Program in conjunction with the
Director of ISL.

Develop and advise the World Ambassador (volunteer based organization)
program within ISL towards a culture of service, member accountability, and
quality programming.

Coordinate and enhance the World Leader (orientation leader) program in
conjunction with ISL’s International Student Orientation programs.

Develop leadership training and resources for student organization leaders
and members.

Transition and Support

Assist the Director of ISL in the creation, development, implementation, and
assessment of the office’s International Student Orientation programs.

Create and implement career development opportunities in collaboration
with UGA’s Career Center for international students at UGA.

Coordinate the annual Non-Resident Tax Assistance Program including the
recruitment of volunteers and marketing the program.

Oversee and advise the Language Partner Program, which connects
domestic, English-speaking students with international students at UGA,
allowing for language proficiency and cultural discovery.

Programming and Outreach

Co-lead and coordinate the International Street Festival including volunteer
recruitment and management, programmatic efforts, and logistics.

Develop, market, and implement staff/faculty resources that assist with
internationalizing the UGA campus.

Coordinate the weekly Coffee Hour program in a manner that allows for
cultural exploration for both the international and domestic student
populations at UGA.

Lead and develop the annual International Education Week program,
including the coordination of student organization events, campus partner
programming, and ISL led opportunities for students to engage with
international education at UGA.


Oversee and maintain budgetary and administrative functions related to ISL’s
25 international student organizations.

Provide quality marketing for programs and services offered by ISL and help
coordinate office communications including managing electronic databases,
office listservs, office email accounts, and social media efforts.

Serve on campus committees as needed.
