Full-Time Marketing & Communications Coordinator

Job Description

Position Summary:
The Marketing and Communications Coordinator in the Center for Student Health & Counseling (SHAC) at Portland
State University (PSU) provides strategic direction, planning, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of comprehensive marketing and communication strategies and initiatives utilizing best practices for SHAC within the university setting.

This position is also responsible for envisioning events and promotions that best support and promote the services
and mission of SHAC; identifying learning outcomes for events and implementing appropriate assessment; recruiting, mentoring and coaching SHAC staff-volunteers; overseeing all event planning, logistics and implementation; and handling all publicity related to each event.

This position will initiate, build and maintain relationships with faculty, departments and community partners through co-sponsoring and co-planning events, formal and informal communication, and by direct outreach. This includes event coordination, coalition building, meeting facilitation, communication, assessment, and adhering to the allocated SHAC marketing budget.

This position handles all SHAC publicity, including event promotion, as well as overseeing the design of all SHAC promotional materials, forms, website design and presentation, Facebook, Twitter, and other social media accounts. This position will use appropriate evaluative strategies to measure the efficacy of SHAC’s marketing and promotional outreach. Successful completion of a background check is required.

Minimum Qualifications:
BA/BS with 3+ years of experience in an appropriate area of specialization.

Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree in an appropriate area of specialization such as marketing, communications, advertising, public
relations, health communication or related field.

Professional experience in a marketing/communications position
Experience in graphic design and/or creative services management
Effective organizational skills
Exceptional interpersonal skills
Exceptional written and oral communication skills
Project planning and management skills
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office Professional Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and other digital communication and marketing tools
Demonstrated artistic and design abilities, including knowledge of relevant design technologies, trends and
techniques, with the ability to create and work with both print and digital formats
Ability to take initiative and to plan and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work independently with a high level of self-motivation to meet goals and objectives
Demonstrated ability to clearly communicate with a wide variety of stakeholders
