Full-Time Instructional Services Librarian

Job Description

This position is responsible for coordinating the information literacy instruction program and managing instruction assessment, providing formal and informal instruction, and developing instructional tools. This position will also be responsible for performing liaison duties for assigned academic departments and participating in the Libraries’ Open Educational Resource initiative

REQUIREMENTS: ALA-accredited MLS or MLSI degree; experience in with active learning pedagogies; experience with instructional design and educational technologies, including Articulate Storyline; ability to initiate and mange
collaborative projects and develop policies; demonstrated learner-centered approach to instruction and other
information services; understanding of current and emerging trends, concepts, and theories in teaching and learning in higher education. Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills; ability to work both independently and collaboratively across disciplines in a service oriented environment; analytical skills including independent problem solving, critical thinking and time management skills; demonstrated enthusiasm for teaching and learning;

PREFERRED: Additional advanced degree; minimum two years of relevant professional experience; experience with curriculum development; experience or coursework related to assessment of teaching and learning initiatives; instructional, teaching or training experience in a classroom environment; successful track record of collaboration regarding scholarly issues and technologies

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Beginning salary is $52,000. Commensurate with experience.

Extensive Doctoral/Research University. The campus is located in the historic port city of Norfolk, VA.
