Full-Time Graphic Design Marketing Coordinator

Job Description

The Office of Assistant VP for University Auxiliary Services at Old Dominion University (Norfolk, VA) is seeking candidates for a PR & Marketing Specialist II position:

Objective: This position receives general supervision from the Public Relations & Marketing Manager and Vice President who approves the methods and approach for carrying out assigned strategic communications and design development to effectively represent the organization’s services to the faculty, staff, students, and campus community. This position will perform public relations functions of routine difficulty such as media relations, publications, events and promotions, internal communications, public information, audio-video production, presentations and speeches, publicity, and/or development and promotional activities. Other duties include conducting preliminary research, writing, editing, proofreading, drafting the basic layout, and recommending materials for publications, posters, and information releases as assigned; taking photographs and making slides; producing, editing, and recording audio-visual materials; and maintaining publication, information, and audio-visual library and/or systems for assigned area.

Required Qualifications:
• Working experience in coordinating marketing campaigns, projects and providing administrative support.
• Working experience as graphic designer.
• Working experience in writing, editing, and proofreading press releases and articles.
• Working knowledge of marketing techniques and tools.
• Working knowledge of graphic design concepts and techniques and their role in the development of communications and marketing materials.
• Working knowledge of effective problem solving and customer service techniques.
• Working knowledge of Google analytics, Adobe: InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator.
• Some knowledge of all Audio Visual aspects of e-mail such as streaming video and sound, blogs and email design embedded imagery.
• Strong collaboration skills.
• Excellent organization and customer service skills.
• Strong written, oral, and visual communication skills.
• Excellent presentation and analytical skills.
• Proficient skill in the use of Microsoft Office.
• Demonstrated ability to handle a variety of assignments simultaneously and work well under deadlines.
• Demonstrated ability to pay close attention to detail.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to interpret and analyze information for various audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to create and develop graphic design concepts for marketing and communications objectives.
• Demonstrated ability to economically produce graphic design concepts and production art for publications and to manage projects by advising and consulting with others to determine project requirements, to evaluate the production feasibility of designs, and to prepare schedules and cost estimates.

Preferred Qualifications:
• Considerable experience in market research and analysis.
• Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, Journalism, and Public Relations or equivalent years’ experience or combination in required field of study.
