Full-Time General Manager, University Union

Job Description

Budget Title: Staff Associate (SL-4)
Salary: $65,000

Provides direction and strategic planning for University Union, including the implementation of the mission, vision, and goals of the University Union.
Oversees the direction of all operations of the University Union in accordance with Binghamton University’s policies and procedures.
Oversees the overall standards of performance through selection of administrative personnel, budgetary controls, and overall thrust and direction of programs and services.
The General Manager directly supervises the following positions: Associate Director of Campus Activities, Assistant Director of University Union and the Assistant Director of Operations for the University Union.
Serves as the primary communication link between the University Union and other campus departments, the
community and Student Association.
Works directly with offices and services “housed” in the University Union.
Works directly with the Offices of the Dean of Students and stimulates and helps to coordinate all staff and student effort to realize the union’s educational and service objectives.
Assists with the facilities management of the University Union.
Responsible for various reports and projects including WEAVE, office manual and annual report.
Serves on various University committees.
Assist with oversight of University Union budgets and assessment.
Oversight and management of large scale programming and space management.
Serve as Essential and/or critical Employee when the State or County declares a “State of Emergency” or the
President declares a “University Service Disruption.”




Education: Master’s Degree Required
Work Experience: 8-10 Years


How to Apply

Requires a master’s degree in Student Affairs in Higher Education, Education, Recreation, Social Services, or
Business and 8-10 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Knowledge base entailing student development, campus activities and student union best practices.
Commitment to professional development.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with diverse constituent groups and commitment to student success.
Demonstrated administrative skill in strategic planning, program evaluation, staff development, budgeting,
assessment and technology.
Ability to function independently and as a member of a division leadership team in a fast paced, changing
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience in a university/college setting, particularly in a University Union.
Demonstrated ability to successfully supervise full-time professional staff.
