Full-Time Executive Academic Initiatives Administrator

Job Description

The Division of Academic Affairs at Old Dominion University is seeking candidates for the Executive Academic Initiative Administrator (full-time, 12 month) position. This position’s primary area of responsibility is to serve as the liaison to the State Council of Higher Education for Virginia (SCHEV). The incumbent works with faculty and associate deans to ensure new and modified programming/organizational structures are approved for ODU. Additional oversight for this position include planning summer terms with multiple constituencies at ODU. Together with members of various units across campus, the incumbent works to enhance summer offerings, increase online course availability in summer-and by extension during fall and spring semesters-ultimately expanding both undergraduate and graduate enrollments.

Further, the incumbent develops Memoranda of Understanding and/or articulation agreements between Old Dominion University and national/international institutions; updates curriculum guides for both undergraduate and graduate studies; serves as a liaison between Academic Affairs and the College of Continuing Education and Professional Development; and serves as a point of contact in Academic Affairs for faculty who wish to offer programming outside the usual academic calendar.

Required Education: Master’s degree in business, higher education, or related field.

Required Qualifications: Significant work experience in higher education with a good working knowledge of the
diversity and dynamics of a large University with particular experience in a combination of college/departmental
administration. Distance learning administration. Experience with enrollment/admissions, scheduling, financial
management, and collaboration with senior college administrators and faculty. Experience with IT initiatives.
Experience with distance learning, continuing education/public services, and summer studies professional networks for knowledge integration. Knowledge of state higher education regulations/statutes (SCHEV) and of higher education accreditation requirements (SACSCOC). Strong writing/editing skills. Ability to access university administrative systems (Banner). Ability to conduct data analysis and problem-solving using creativity and a collaborative working style and diplomacy. Ability to work with many and diverse professionals towards an organizational strategy. Ability to coordinate construction and modifications to articulation agreements, MOU’s, course and certificate programs for ensuring full disclosure and accrediting reviews and approvals. Knowledge of continuing education and professional development operations. Knowledge of academic and certificate marketing strategies. Strategic planning processes and preparation of strategic documents and performance metrics.

Preferred Qualifications: Doctorate degree.
