About the Dean of Students Office at UNC Charlotte:
Dean of Students Office coordinates a variety of campus-wide programs and services. Within each program area, staff members are directly involved in student group advising, leadership training and development, and teaching in addition to coordinating services and programs for other defined student populations. Due to the ombudsman nature of the Dean of Students Office, all staff members advise, counsel, and serve as advocates for students experiencing difficulties or crises. All positions require flexibility, ability, and willingness to work nights and weekends in structured and unstructured settings with students, staff, and faculty.

Position purpose:
The Director for Veteran Services serves military veteran students as a unique campus population by offering a variety of services and programs which enhance their integration and involvement in academic, interpersonal, and social engagement. This position seeks to develop and expand efforts that encourage student veteran recruitment, retention, and graduation.

General job functions:
• Manage the Veteran Services administrative and student lounge space
• Plan, organize, implement, and supervise all processes and aspects of the Veterans Affairs Certification process, with emphasis on efficient, accurate, and timely claim submission.
• Develop, implement, and advance strategic and tactical relationships throughout the university and community to enhance the student veteran experience.
• Represent, and advocate on behalf of, student veterans and military affiliated students.
• Complete implied and assigned administrative and leadership tasks
