Full-Time Director of Student Ethics/Associate Dean of Students

Job Description

Provides administrative leadership for promoting student understanding about ethical expectations and addressing
student behavioral violations; and serves as one of three Bloomington campus Title IX Deputy Coordinators responsible for responding to and investigating allegations of gender/sex discrimination, harassment and retaliation by the University, students, employees and third parties. Must understand fully the Code of Student Rights, Responsibilities, and Conduct and the Procedures for Bloomington Campus, in order to serve as a campus resource for students, faculty, staff, and others who use the code. Oversees training and supervises the campus judicial process, ensuring that administrative hearing officers, hearing commissions, review boards, and peer judicial boards understand and effectively accomplish the goals of the system with emphasis on student learning and community safety. Meets regularly with campus police, Dean of Students staff, University Counsel and Residential Programs and Services staff, to review critical incident reports and coordinate threat assessment. Qualifications: REQUIRED: Master’s degree in higher education or related field and five years of experience working with student
conduct in a college or university environment, including academic and personal misconduct. Must be able to show an understanding and appreciation for working with diverse populations of students and staff; and experience with staff supervision and fiscal management. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal including a customer service orientation and ability to interact and communicate effectively with a wide variety of diverse individuals. Strong organizational and multitasking skills including ability to manage multiple priorities; and demonstrated competence in decision making and problem solving. Preferred: Doctoral degree.
