Full-Time Deputy ADA Coordinator

Towson University is accepting applications for a Deputy
ADA Coordinator to assist with efforts to comply with the
ADA, including Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and
other federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to
persons with disabilities. The scope of responsibility
includes faculty, staff, and student employment, as well as
student access to educational programs and facilities.

Assists in the coordination of Towson University programs,
policies, and procedures related to university compliance
and the promotion of opportunities for persons with
disabilities; track university progress relating to its
policies and procedures, as well as federal and state laws
relating to persons with disabilities, filing all necessary
reports; serve on the Disability Advisory Committee, which
serves as an advisory board regarding the needs of persons
with disabilities at Towson; inform key administrators of
emerging disability issues on campus and foster the
necessary collaborations across campus to ensure
compliance; assist in the investigation of complaints and
ensure that appropriate processes are in place to provide
the prompt and equitable resolution of complaints and
inquiries from employees and students, as well as the
public; maintain current information regarding federal and
state laws and regulations as well as best practices of
other institutions of higher education and employers
concerning the rights of persons with disabilities and the
provision of reasonable accommodations; provide ADA program
and facility consultation to the university community;
ensure an effective process for reviewing, approving, and
providing accommodation requests for university employees
in conjunction with the Office of Human Resources;
implement an effective process to review and implement
accommodations in response to requests from the public;
ensure physical accessibility by working with Facilities
Management on the university’s ADA/Section 504 facility
plan, barrier removal, and resolution of complaints
regarding physical accessibility; and ensure access to
technology campus-wide for persons with disabilities in
conjunction with the Office of Technology Services.

Bachelor’s degree and three years of full-time experience
working with persons with disabilities. Experience in
Higher Education and a Master’s degree in rehabilitation,
counseling, special education, social work, or related
field is strongly preferred. The selected candidate must
demonstrate knowledge of federal and state laws pertaining
to persons with disabilities, particularly the ADA and
Section 504 and 503 of the Rehabilitation Act; have
understanding of disabilities and accommodation process;
demonstrated experience in effective management of projects
and initiatives; excellent interpersonal skills; and strong
communication skills. A Criminal Background Investigation
is required for the hired candidate and the results may
impact employment.
