Full-Time Corporate & Foundations Relations Officer

Job Description

The Corporate & Foundations Relations Officer (CFRO) is an integral member of the WAMU 99.5 Development team to
ensure achievement of organizational and specific goals. Specific responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding corporations, public and private foundations and government agencies. The CFRO will strategically match prospective funders with WAMU funding priorities and oversee the submission of and reporting on all proposals, grants, and budgets in coordination with American University Development and Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP). The CRFO will also work closely with WAMU content programing, underwriting, development and finance departments to streamline processes for communication and information sharing; and ensure accurate record keeping, fulfilment and reporting of project deliverables.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent in education, training and experience.

Minimum Requirements:
Seven years relevant work experience Knowledge of cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising techniques A successful track record developing and presenting complex proposals to corporate and institutional funders leading to significant commitments Demonstrated knowledge of methods, practices and procedures for obtaining information about the giving
programs of corporations and foundations Demonstrated ability to take primary responsibility for diverse number of projects and to complete them in a timely manner with limited supervision Excellent oral, written and research skills Proven ability to develop strong and productive relationships with funding sources through personal meetings, e-mail and telephone contact Ability to use sound judgment, poise and diplomacy in negotiating relationships Thorough knowledge of “best practices” cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies and techniques, particularly in the area of corporate and foundation fundraising Self-motivation and discipline to regularly set and achieve work goals Ability to work independently and collaboratively Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline oriented environment Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite and willingness
to learn Team Approach An enthusiastic commitment to WAMU and public radio

Additional Information:
This position requires the individual to travel and may include evening/weekend activity.
