Coordinator for Civic Engagement

Coastal Carolina University invites applications for the position of Coordinator for Civic Engagement (full time, temporary) in the Office of Student Life.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising two (2) student Civic Engagement Fellows and six (6) student service specialists; identifying, creating, providing, and marketing a variety of civic learning and democratic engagement opportunities for students; implementing and/or coordinating major programs and special projects including three (3) alternative break trips, hunger and homeless week, meal collection drives and relay for life; serving as a resource for students, faculty and staff on issues and best practices related to civic engagement; serving as a liaison to community agencies in order to identify reciprocal and mutually beneficial service opportunities in the surrounding communities; advising the colleges against cancer student organization to ensure the tradition of relay for life on campus continues as a mutually beneficial event for all CCU students; assessing programs and services and utilizing assessment data to inform future practices; assisting student organizations in organizing community service events and connecting them with community partners when applicable; and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required. Master’s degree in student affairs or equivalent field of study is preferred. A successful candidate should also possess: effective written and verbal skills along with organizational skills; the ability to lead, advise, organize and interact with students; experience with interpersonal relations, relating to diverse individuals and groups, motivating students and developing programs; excellent customer service abilities; familiarity with general risk management policies.

Normal work hours: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Weekend and evening hours will be required. Must be flexible to meet special scheduling needs of the University.
