Full-Time Coordinator- Fitness Programs

Job Description

Campus Recreation at Towson University is currently accepting applications for a Coordinator- Fitness Programs to provide management and oversight for comprehensive group fitness, instructional fitness, and fitness special events programming within Campus Recreation. This position offers recreational opportunities promoting the development of student leaders and healthy lifestyles.


Under the direct supervision of the Assistant Director – Fitness, the Coordinator – Fitness Programs administers a comprehensive group fitness program and coordinates fitness related special events appropriate for various populations within the university community promoting the development of student leaders and healthy lifestyles through physical activity. Duties include but are not limited to: the creation and implementation of a semesterly based group exercise class schedule consisting of a variety of formats; coordination of an instructor training and certification program; direct oversight of equipment inventory and preventative maintenance management and/or replacement as it relates to group fitness programming; budgetary oversight for all group fitness programming; responsible for student and part-time staff personnel management related to group fitness programming.


Bachelor’s degree and one year of professional work experience within fitness and recreation. Candidates with a Master’s degree and a fitness and recreation graduate assistantship will also meet the requirement. Primary group fitness certification from an accredited, national association (AFAA, ACE, ACSM, NASM, NETA); demonstrated ability to teach and conduct fitness classes and instructor training for at least three formats such as dance, cycling, rhythmic aerobics, strength training, yoga, pilates, kickboxing and/or step; and strong computer skills for the processing of facility, fiscal and personnel management.

Preferred: Master’s degree in Kinesiology, Physical Education, or closely related field from an accredited college or university; CPR, AED and First Aid-Professional Rescue Instructor certified; experience working in a collegiate recreation environment; and demonstrated supervisory experience in managing a diverse fitness program to include programming and staffing.

Salary and Benefits
