Full-Time Career Advisor & Internship Coordinator

Job Description

The Office of Career Services at Lewis University invites applications for Career Advisor & Internship Coordinator to provide career development and employment planning to students. This position includes developing and coordinating internships. In addition, the Career Adviser  & Internship Coordinator may participate in year-round
orientation/advising activities.

Primary Responsibilities:
• Plan and support career events.
• Establish a practice interview program with alumni volunteers.
• Review and activate Flyers Get Hired and ISCPA internship postings.
• Establish measurable goals for internships and services provided to assigned academic program areas.
• Provide assistance with the IBHE Cooperative Work Study Grant.
• Meet individually with students and assist with career development utilizing career assessment tools and other
career resources and provide resume reviews for academic program areas as assigned.
• Assist students with job search strategies and customize services to meet student needs including: students entering the job market, alumni looking for advancement opportunities and/or graduate/professional school applications.
• Help coordinate and participate in career related events off campus such as job fairs and other student activities and events.
• Develop new ways to market services to students using different forms of media (i.e. Social Media, videos,
broadcasting, Blackboard, etc.)

Minimum Qualifications: Master’s degree in student personnel, career counseling, human resources or related
degree with minimum 2 years of highly-relevant experience in a career services, workforce development, campus relations, human resources, recruiting, and/or customer service environment; Proficiency in Microsoft Office and able/willing to learn additional software programs utilized by Career Services staff; Willing and available to work some nights and weekends as well as travel when needed;

Preferred Qualifications: Sales, business development, or relationship management experience a plus; Experience using Career Services Management tools such as Simplicity, Handshake or CSO also preferred; Demonstrated success in prospecting new business/clients is ideal.
