Full-Time Associate Vice President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students

Job Description

The University of Texas at Dallas Division of Student
Affairs is seeking a professional with proven skill and
experience to serve as the institution’s Associate Vice
President for Student Affairs and Dean of Students
(AVP/DOS). Reporting to the Vice President for Student
Affairs, the AVP/DOS will provide leadership and supervision
to the Dean of Students Office, including the formulation,
interpretation and communication of University policies
related to student conduct/discipline and conflict
resolution. Responsibilities include the coordination of
crisis/critical incident management, the discipline
committee and the Behavior Assessment and Intervention Team.
Current responsibilities also include the oversight of
Student AccessAbility, Student Government, Student
Leadership, Spirit Programs, Fraternity & Sorority Life,
Student Organizations, Student Programming Board, Student
Media, Student Transition Programs, Student Volunteerism,
and the Veteran Student Services and Student Counseling Centers.

The AVP/DOS will provide leadership, supervision and
evaluation of programs and staff in the assigned areas of
responsibility, create and maintain strong relationships
with academic deans, faculty and other campus departments,
serve as the primary liaison in relation to individual
student issues, serve on University committees, represent UT
Dallas at state, regional and national meetings, and engage
in assessment, strategic planning and budget management.

Qualifications: Master’s degree in student affairs
administration or related field required; doctorate
preferred. A minimum of seven years progressive experience
in student affairs; strong administrative and management
competencies; leadership experience in responding to
critical incidents; and experience with Title IX compliance
and investigations is essential.
