Full-Time Associate University Librarian for Services

Job Description

Old Dominion University is seeking the right candidates for two Associate University Librarian (AUL) positions. Reporting to the University Librarian, the AULs are
responsible for shared-leadership and oversight of all aspects of the University Libraries except Special Collections and University Archives.

This position will share leadership over all of the Libraries’ programs; however, its primary programmatic focus is Assessment. This person will establish and conduct
the Libraries’ assessment program, analyzing the processes and outcomes of every aspect of the Libraries’ services, spaces, and operations.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:
A master’s degree from an American Library Association accredited program; demonstrated effective interpersonal and communication skills to establish and maintain close, productive working relationships with colleagues, administrators, faculty, and students; evidence of flexibility and ability to thrive in a complex work
environment; demonstrated ability to manage multiple responsibilities and work collaboratively with others in a team environment; extensive knowledge and understanding of current trends in academic research libraries, the library’s role in the institution, and the ways the roles and constituents’ expectations are changing; demonstrated ability in strategic planning, leading, and managing change, and project management; ability to create and excel in a shared-responsibility administration; demonstrated creative problem-solving and analytical skills; effective leadership, management, and supervisory skills; effective planning, prioritizing, and budgeting skills ; knowledge of user experience; demonstrated ability to coordinate the
full cycle of assessment in an academic research library; demonstrated innovative and creative approaches to empowering and mentoring staff, leading projects, solving
problems, and initiating new services designed to meet user needs; expertise through increasingly responsible positions with demonstrative administrative excellence including effective leadership, management, supervisory, budget, fiscal and planning experience ; extensive experience in human resource management including developing and coaching staff ; extensive experience in assessing academic research
library workflows and services; experience with providing services directly to users in an academic research library; experience in developing and evaluating academic library services; demonstrated success in leading, planning, organizing and managing critical library operations; record of achievement sufficient to appoint at the rank of
Librarian III.

Preferred:
Experience with developing organizational strategies, evaluating programs, and providing leadership in the strategic development of information-related service
organizations; extensive effective project management experience; leadership experience within an organization of comparable scope and complexity.

SALARY AND BENEFITS: Minimum $90,000. Excellent benefits package.
