Full-Time Associate Director for Assessment and Evaluation

Job Description

and Learning Laboratory (TLL), to work directly with faculty
and staff on designing and conducting assessment and
evaluation studies at the course- (residential and on-line
environments) and program-levels, develop assessment tools,
and collect and analyze data for a wide range of educational
initiatives. Studies may include innovations focused on
pedagogy, curricular, and educational technology to further
understand how efforts contribute to student learning,
program experience, and satisfaction. Through one-on-one
consultations, workshops, and the creation of materials and
resources, will advise faculty, administrators, and students
on how to lead their own assessment and evaluation studies;
and provide input on assessment and evaluation strategies
and priorities at MIT and translate study findings,
strategy, and priorities into short- and long-term action plans.

REQUIRED: Ph.D. in a field grounded in methodology and
analysis, i.e., assessment and evaluation, educational
measurement, sociology, psychology, engineering education,
or science education; at least five years’ experience
conducting assessment and evaluation studies within a higher
education or similar organizational setting; expertise using
a variety of quantitative and qualitative methods and
analyses; ability to use leading statistical packages (e.g.,
Stata, SPSS, R) for quantitative analysis and qualitative
packages (e.g., ATLAS.ti, NVivo) to analyze transcripts;
demonstrated ability to learn new methodologies/analytic
approaches; knowledge of the leading challenges, best
practices, current research, and innovations pertaining to
assessment and evaluation in higher education, including the
particular challenges in science and engineering; excellent
writing and presentation skills; talent for listening
carefully, communicating tactfully, and working
collaboratively; and the capacity to work autonomously with
minimal guidance on numerous studies at once. Undergraduate
