Associate Director of Alumni Programs, Special Events & Programs (11166)

Job Description

The Associate Director designs, implements, and markets a variety of special events and programs in the DC metro
area for AU alumni. These programs and services include, but are not limited to, All-American Weekend, class reunions, and other DC alumni events. The Associate Director manages a corps of local and regional volunteers to engage with local programming and reunion committee work. The incumbent works to increase alumni involvement with American University through development and maintenance of relevant programs.

Educational Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent in education, training or experience required.

Minimum Requirements:
At least four years of successful experience in alumni or donor relations for educational institutions or non-profit organization (relevant graduate degree can substitute in part for experience)
Ability to independently formulate long-range strategic objectives, and manage varied programs and services
Ability to set priorities, meet deadlines and work independently
Demonstrated organizational and decision-making skills with follow-up abilities
Mature and professional attitude, customer/client focus
Highly developed interpersonal skills; energetic and detail oriented
Experience in event planning, volunteer management, and direct marketing
Clear, concise reporting and writing style

Additional Information:
Availability to work some nights and weekends, as well as some local travel required.
