Part-Time Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swimming Coach

Job Description

Reporting to the Head Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach, the Assistant Men’s and Women’s Swim Coach will assist in
developing, organizing and administering all aspects of a competitive NCAA DIII Men’s and Women’s Swim team. This is a four (4) month, part-time position.

Responsibilities include:
• coaching,
• conducting and supervising regular practice sessions and contests,
• assisting with the development of the starting line-up, game day coaching, tactics, and strategy,
• establishing and enforcing the rules of conduct and team policies, including team discipline policies,
• overseeing the recruitment of top prospective men’s and women’s swimming student-athletes including: identifying prospects through off campus evaluations and contacts and organization of on-campus visits and communication with prospects while following NCAA recruitment guidelines,
• assisting with guiding prospective student-athletes through the admissions process and freshman or transfer
student-athlete process, and initial eligibility,
• assisting in student-athlete development, acting as a mentor student-athlete to foster athletic, academic,
emotional, and social growth,
• maintaining equipment inventory including apparel and distribution,
• assisting with the coordination of all team travel and assisting in driving a passenger van for away team travel,
• assisting in the coordination of fundraising and community services events,
• performing other duties as assigned by Head Coach.

The Assistant Coach is responsible for compliance with the NCAA, Skyline Conference and SUNY Old Westbury rules and regulations. The successful candidate should have experience with multicultural student body populations.

Minimum qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and one (1) year swim coaching experience required with demonstrated success.
First Aid, CPR, AED and lifeguard certifications required. Must have and maintain the appropriate valid NYS driver’s
license and have a motor vehicle record which is free from major violations or a pattern of repeat violations. The
ideal candidate will have excellent interpersonal and communication skills and must have a commitment to student-athlete academic success and well-being.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
Work Experience: 1-3 Years
