Full-Time Assistant Football Coach

Job Description:

Position Summary: This position is responsible for the development and mentorship of student-athletes in the
football program while assisting on the offensive side of the football team and recruiting prospective
student-athletes for the football program.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

1. Coordinate and organize football recruitment within the state of Illinois that allows program to be in a
position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference. This includes recruiting student athletes in specified areas and/or schools as assigned by the Head Coach, identifying prospective student-athletes through
talent evaluation, coordinating mailings, telephone calls, and email exchanges, monitoring complete recruitment
process, on campus and off campus in person contacts. Coordination with the admissions staff on campus visits and
development of prospect and applicant lists. Responsible and adherence to all NCAA, Northern Athletics (NAC) and
institutional rules and regulations. Including eligibility and compliance of student athletes.

Responsible to coach a position and assist the Head Coach with scouting reports, film editing, game and practice
plans. Assist in the planning, development, and direction of all team training and conditioning activities in the
traditional and nontraditional segment at a level that will place program in a position of competitive leadership in the Northern Athletics Conference.

Organize player and field equipment inventory, maintenance, and ordering. Maintain organization and cleanliness of equipment storage facilities.

Provide academic mentorship to assigned group of student-athletes by staying up to date on their coursework
schedules, assisting in student development, and monitoring class attendance and academic progress.

Assist in the development and implementation of the strength and conditioning program within in the execution of
the departments Sports Performance program. Provide instruction in technique and safety procedures in adherence
with NCAA regulations and departments Sports Performance expectations. Assist the Sports Performance staff with the
design of the strength & conditioning program. Attain proper certification while committing to continuing education for strength & conditioning.

Other Functions:

Responsible for adherence to all NCAA, Northern Athletics (NACC) and institutional rules and regulations, including eligibility and compliance of student athletes, medical hardship documentation and extension waivers. Responsible for identifying and notifying student athletes of eligibility status through approved communication. Adherence to all Benedictine University and Department of Athletics policies and procedures. Work independently and creatively within established guidelines, while at the same time functioning as a member of a team. Attend departmental and University related meetings and events.
Maintain self-control and poise; provide an example of sportsmanlike conduct for team members, officials, opponents
and spectators. Work in coordination with University offices and departments to coordinate and facilitate Program needs, serve on University, conference and national committees as needed.
Maintain high level of organization and ability to manage multiple tasks.
Maintain positive relationships with alumni, parents, students, officials, volunteers and fans.

Minimum Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s preferred. Experience: Previous collegiate coaching preferred along with experience with strength trainingand conditioning programs. Specific Knowledge, Licenses, Certifications:
Organizational skills, writing and typing skills, interpersonal skills, data entry and budget management
skills and demonstrated supervisory skills. Valid driver’s license; CPR/First Aid/ AED certification.
Supervisory Responsibility (if applicable): Student workers Working Conditions: Office environment; nights and weekends required.
