Full-Time Assistant Director for Student Outreach and Support

Job Description

Outreach and Support (SOS), to collaborate with the
assistant dean on providing support, advisement, and
direction to the SOS within the Office of the Dean for
Student Life (DSL), which delivers support and services for
the undergraduate and graduate student community at the
Institute. Will work with other MIT-recognized programs,
class councils, and student governments to strengthen the
ongoing visibility of programs on campus; support the
assistant dean in developing and implementing policies and
initiatives related to promoting health, wellness, and
student safety; and work with the assistant dean in
fostering communication and collaboration between and among
students, staff, and the relevant programs and operations to
promote a variety of health and wellness initiatives at MIT.

REQUIRED: a bachelor’s degree in relevant field; a minimum
of three years’ related experience; knowledge of laws,
trends, strategies, and practices related to health
promotion within a collegiate environment; demonstrated
effectiveness working with a diverse student community and
knowledge of current issues regarding the needs of the
students under the purview of program’s focus; experience
and skill with student advisement, mentoring, conflict
resolution, leadership training, and collaboration; a
commitment to and appreciation for issues related to health
promotion; proven ability to work collaboratively; excellent
writing and public speaking skills; and ability to work
multitask in a fast-paced environment. Master’s degree
