Full-Time Assistant Director of Off-Campus Residential Services

Job Description

Position Overview: The Office of Residence Life seeks applicants to serve as the Assistant Director of Off-Campus Residential Services. This is a full time 12-month live-off position.

The Assistant Director (AD) reports to the Associate Director of Residence Life and will serve as liaison to all undergraduate and graduate Merrimack students living off campus. The Assistant Director will locate and manage
available off-campus spaces available to students. Additionally, they will provide programming support to our off-campus students and serve as a co-adviser for these student populations.

A partial meal plan during the academic year is provided. Candidates for this position are required to satisfactorily complete a CORI check.

Responsibilities:
Locate and mange available spaces off campus to serve the needs of our current undergraduate and graduate students.

Proactively work with students in finding and selecting available housing spaces; assist in roommate searches and create and maintain database of available housing options off campus. Create and facilitate semester and summer workshops to assist new graduate and undergraduate students in their apartment/roommate search process.

Serve as a liaison between students in Royal Crest, all other off campus housing and Merrimack College.

Supervise and evaluate Resident Director(s) and Graduate Fellows.

Assist in building and maintaining good relationships between students and property owners.

Provide programming and leadership opportunities for Merrimack students living off campus and enhance their
connectedness to the Merrimack community.

Co-advise and advocate for the Commuter Student Association and the Graduate Student Senate alongside the
Coordinator of Programming and Affinity Groups.

Work with new student orientation for graduate and undergraduate students.

Work with offices across campus (External Relations, Police Services, Facilities) to provide an optimal student experience for off campus students.

Assist with central office tasks not limited to room selection, openings, closings, RA Selection and training, attending weekly staff meetings and participating in divisional committees; maintain familiarity with current trends in higher education.

Serve as student conduct hearing officer, update database and information associated with each case.

Serve in the Administrator on Call rotation.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required:

Completion of relevant master’s degree (e.g higher education, student affairs, counseling, or others).

4-8 years experience working with college-aged students.

Prior work experience in Residence Life or Property Management.

Preferred:

Understanding of Andover, North Andover, and Lawrence Real Estate.

Understanding of college student development.

Previous experience with program planning and development.

Computer Skills (relational databases, Microsoft Office/Publisher).

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
