Full-Time Assistant Director of Multicultural Life and Diversity

Job Description

SUNY Cortland seeks an Assistant Director of
Multicultural Life and Diversity to Support the Chief
Diversity Officer in the development, facilitation and
assessment of institutional programming, training,
student development, capacity building, and education
related to multicultural life, diversity, equity,
inclusion, social justice, access, retention, and
community building.

Major responsibilities include planning and facilitating
diversity programs and events; Offering support and
advisement for historically underrepresented groups of
students; Maintaining and updating the online presence of
the Multicultural Life and Diversity Office through the
office webpage, social media initiatives and an online
newsletter; Ongoing additional duties as needed and

Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree or pursuing a Master’s in Student Affairs
or closely related field or a Bachelor’s degree with
several years of related professional experience;
Experience doing diversity and inclusion work in student
affairs and/or student support and retention; Strong
communication skills; An ability to develop strong
interpersonal relationships as well as coalition and
community building; Working knowledge of various computer
applications such as Microsoft Office; Excel; Power
Point; Prezi; and Publisher

Preferred Qualifications:
Functionally bilingual in Spanish; Extensive Training
Experience; Grant writing and external funding
experience; Diversity Training Certifications
