Full-Time Assistant Director of Medical Outreach

Job Description

The University of Notre Dame ( is accepting applications
for a Assistant Director of Medical Outreach.

Applications will be accepted until 8/25/2015.

The Assistant Director of Medical Outreach is a key member of the
University Health Services (UHS ) leadership team who bears primary
responsibility for management of the UHS Medical Outreach program, the
principal means by which UHS provides care to guests of the University
who attend campus events, in close collaboration with internal and
external partners. This position supervises all Medical Outreach staff. He
or she engages in health promotion efforts on UHS’ behalf with campus
partners. Working closely with all members of the UHS Management
Team, this position supports various Quality Assurance programs
including the UHS Risk Management and Safety program.

Medical Event Management: Works closely with campus partners,
including NDFD , NDSP , Risk Management, Associate Vice President for
Campus Safety/Director of Game Day Operations, etc as well as local
partners to mitigate potential medical risks of campus events. Determines
level of medical coverage and schedules Medical Outreach staff
appropriately. Supervises all professional and volunteer Medical Outreach
staff, ensuring provision of excellent care. Administers Medical Outreach
budget, utilization statistics, supplies, etc.

Quality Assurance: Enforces adherence to relevant standards of care. Co-
responsible for the UHS areas of Risk Management, Infection Control,
Business Continuity Plan/Human Life Committee and maintenance of the
Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care (AAAHC ).
Collaborates with Medical Director to review and update all health
delivery protocols and medical directives regularly and as necessary.

Health Promotion: Collaborates with campus partners, such as the
McDonald Center for Student Well-Being, on health promotion programs.
Oversees training courses and workshops on a variety of health and
wellness topics, including CPR .

Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

Master’s degree or Bachelor’s degree (5 years) or advanced certification
beyond Bachelor’s in Nursing, Public Health, Health Administration or
related field, with 3 to 4 years experience.
*Demonstrated management, supervisory and organization skills

*Experience in event planning, logistics, large-scale function coordination
or similar

*Ability to manage all levels of health care professionals and volunteer lay

*Ability to interact with many different partners

*Strong customer-service orientation for both internal and external

*Experience in responding quickly, calmly and efficiently in emergency

*Demonstrated ability to be flexible

*Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications:

*Registered Nurse with current Indiana license preferred

*5+ years of experience in emergency nursing, first response and/or
critical care preferred

*Current CPR /Professional Rescuer Instructor’s Certification preferred
