Full-Time Assistant Director of Human Resources

Job Description

The Assistant Director of Human Resources reports directly
to the Director of Human Resources. The Assistant Director
of Human Resources will administer the University
compensation system and the performance review program.
Other duties include administering various human resources
functions and procedures.

Knowledge:

Knowledge of compensation and performance evaluation
programs.

Knowledge of computer programs such as Microsoft Office and
payroll.

Considerable knowledge of principles and practices of
personnel administration, effective oral and written
communication skills, excellent interpersonal skills.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

• Administers compensation program; rewrites job
descriptions as necessary; analyzes compensation; adjust
pay bands, when needed; trains employees on compensation
program; makes recommendations for improvements to
compensation program; schedules compensation/performance
review committee meetings

• Assist with the assessment of the Paycom Program to
maximize results for compensation and performance reviews,
application processes, benefits, etc.

• Continually seeking ways to improve performance
evaluation program; trains employees on evaluation program;
monitors performance evaluation program and revises as
needed; when needed, makes recommendations to improve
evaluation program

• Assists in administering various human resources
functions and procedures for all university personnel;
assists in development and implementation of personnel
policies and procedures; assists in preparation of employee
handbook and policies and procedures manual

• Participates in developing departmental goals,
objectives, and systems

• Assists with benefits administration to include
open enrollment, claims resolution, change reporting,
approving invoices for payment, and communicating benefit
information to employees

• Complete benefits reconciliations at month ends

• Assists with recruitment efforts for all exempt and
nonexempt employees including posting of positions and
processing of employment application materials

• Assists with new hire orientations, to include
entering new hire information into the payroll program; and
assists with exit interviews

• May assist with employee relations counseling

• Participates in staff meetings and attends other
university meetings (committee and task force) and other
off campus meetings and seminars

• Develop and maintain an employee directory

• Recommends new approaches, policies, and procedures
to effect continual improvements in efficiency of
department and services performed

• Compiles reports from Paycom payroll program to
update and obtain information needed to perform duties as
assigned

• Maintains compliance with federal and state
regulations concerning employment

• May assist employees and students with payroll
related questions and concerns

• Provide, when requested, information to
supervisors, co-workers, and students by telephone, in
written form, e-mail, or in person

• Complete employment verifications

• Develop constructive and cooperative working
relationships with others, and maintaining them over time

• Encourage and build trust, respect, and cooperation
among employees

• Prepare and maintain accurate records, files and

• Sit and work at a computer keyboard for extended
periods of time

• Stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a
daily basis

• Perform general office administration activities:
copying, filing, delivering and using the telephone

• Occasionally travel for training by conventional
means including aircraft, motor vehicle, as required

Skills:

made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting
at inappropriate times

• Understanding written sentences and paragraphs in
work related documents

REQUIREMENTS
Education: Bachelor’s Degree Preferred
Work Experience: 3-5 Years
