Full-Time Assistant Director, Graduate Student Career Counseling and Assessment

Job Description

Job Summary
The Assistant Director works with the Director of the
CCPD to provide career counseling and advice to all
graduate students ensuring Clustered Learning, Advocacy,
and Support for Students (CLASS) and the Cooperative
Education Program are fully supported.

Minimum Qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Higher Education Administration,
Education, or Counseling (emphasis in student affairs,
counseling, human resource management or related field)
• A minimum of three (3) years of professional experience
in fields related to student programming with a
preference for experience in a career center or human
resources role, especially experience with graduate
students and postdocs
or
• A relevant combination of education, experience and
training may be substituted for a degree

Preferred Qualifications
• Terminal degree
• Experience with data collection and reporting for post-
graduate outcomes, especially for MBA and business
oriented MS degree programs
• Experience working successfully with diverse cultures
and foreign nationals with a preference for work with
graduate students and postdocs
• Experience in business development and relationship
management

Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Requires excellent oral and written communication
skills.
• Requires the ability to collect data relative to
placements in accordance with industry standards and
prepare reports that illustrate the outcomes and
strengths of programs
• Ability to work flexible hours including occasional
evenings and weekends
• Requires ability to work independently and with high a
level of initiative
• Requires strong organizational skills.
• Requires excellent customer service skills
• Requires ability to work effectively under pressure and
meet established goals and objectives.
• Requires ability to work with a diverse population.
• Requires strong computer skills and knowledge.
• Required demonstrated advanced skills in counseling,
interpersonal communication and written communication
focusing on a traditional college-age student population
• Familiarity with general industry hiring cycles and
processes

Additional Job Related Information
The Assistant Director works with the Director of the
CCPD to provide career counseling and advice to all
graduate students ensuring Clustered Learning, Advocacy,
and Support for Students (CLASS) and the Cooperative
Education Program are fully supported. The Assistant
Director for Graduate Student Career Counseling and
Assessment serves as the CCPD liaison to the Lally School
of Management’s graduate programs and as a CCPD CLASS
point person for graduate students. The Assistant
Director for Graduate Career Counseling and Assessment
provides career counseling, advocacy and advice to
graduate students through individual appointments, in
group settings and through intentional career and
professional development programming. Additionally, the
Assistant Director for Graduate Student Career Counseling
and Assessment collects, analyzes, and reports on
graduate student career outcomes with an emphasis on MBA
and MS candidates at the Lally School of Management.
