Job Description

Assistant Director of Center for Activities, Recreation and Leadership.

BASIC FUNCTION: Provides administrative leadership and support to all Student Government Organizations most notably the Campus Activities Board (CAB) student organization. Assists in the oversight and planning of wellness activities, Intramurals, Leadership Programs and all Club Sport teams. Oversees activities such as family weekend, spring weekend, class events, bus trips, and student organization activities.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree required. Master’s degree in counseling, college student personnel administration or related discipline preferred. Three (3) years of relevant experience in a residential college/University setting that includes managerial experience; program and event planning; and advising of student organizations. Possess clean and valid driver’s license.

• Administer, monitor, and evaluate programs, services and functions of all student clubs and organizations Intramurals & Recreation Department, including operating policies and procedures. Develop and modify programs/policies in accordance with student needs and interests, as well as institutional objectives and resources.
• Responsible to increase and develop student interest and involvement with extra-curricular activities. Facilitate meetings with student organizations. Encourage and develop team-building exercise for all student organizations including club
sport teams.
• Direct and support the University Rathskeller (Student Union) facility operation for all non-food and non-beverage operations.
• Supervise and coordinate various productions including: Family Weekend, Spring Weekend, Major Reilly Center Arena Concerts, and various Class Events along with Senior Week activities. Coordinator for the Bona Bus transportation system as well as semester break buses.
• Supervise the production and distribution of all advertising and promotional material used for activities and events on and off campus. To include but not limited to posters, flyers, table-tents, electronic advertising and maintain the department website.
• Negotiate and approve artist and program fees, increase university profit percentage when applicable, contract terms and conditions, recommending approval for all entertainment contracts between the university and entertainment artists, entertainment agencies and concert buyers for payment.
• Supervise staff which may include one full-time administrative assistant, student workers, interns and graduate students. Assist in professional department training for all club leaders and student workers. Assist in the running of the Richter Recreation Center, its staff and programs.
• Track operating budgets to ensure fiscal responsibilities for clubs and organizations.
• Represents the University on various committees and serves as a liaison with University offices and outside agencies when appropriate.
• Ability to travel for the University as needed or requested.
