Full-Time Assistant Community Manager

Job Description

EdR Collegiate Housing, a leader provider of quality, state-of-the-art student housing has two opportunities in Berkeley, California. EdR works in partnership with the University of California at Berkeley, managing historic Bowles Hall and the convenient, dorm-style Berk.

A primary focus of the Assistant Community Manager position is to develop a residence life/student development program which is consistent with and complimentary to the programs and procedures at the University. The Assistant Community Manager serves as a link between management and the residents and the ACM contributes to a high quality living experience for the student residents through the development of social and educational programs designed to engage the resident into the collegiate experience. All of these programs serve to support and compliment University policies. The ACM is considered the right-hand to the Community Manager and assists the CM in the execution of the CM’s duties.

Primary Responsibilities:

Assists in the development of residence life/student development programs complimentary to programs within the University setting. Promotes resident involvement in programming activities at the property and attends all functions planned by resident staff. Provides guidance and training to staff members who are planning the activities.

Assists in the development of the office staff and the Residence Life staff to include the Resident Directors and
Residence Life Coordinator, if applicable.. In conjunction with the CM/GM and Leasing & Marketing Manager, supervises student workers (CA/RA’s) who are involved in office procedures; establishes time schedules for the CA/RA’s and student workers and ensures schedules are executed.

Attends weekly meetings with Residence Life staff and department supervisors and train, motivates, and coaches these staff members in the execution of their duties. Supervises the front office function and staff to ensure the day to day accounting/administrative functions are handled efficiently.

Assists the CM/GM in the development of the annual operating budget.

Coordinates the summer business program (conferences or group bookings) to meet the objective of the business plan.

Performs and facilitates room inspections and room condition forms for all rooms prior to check-in. Investigates and reports room and community area damages.

Educates residents on safety procedures such as fire drills.

Education and Experience – A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent and three years related work experience or training is required.

Physical and Environmental – The ability to see, hear, speak, comprehend, and communicate are required. The
position may require the ability to physically inspect the properties, construction projects, and portfolio, plus the
Assistant Community Manager must possess any abilities and skills required to carry out the responsibilities outlined above, even if not specifically mentioned herein.



Education: Bachelor’s Degree Required
Work Experience: 2-4 Years
