Full-Time Academic Support Counselor-Student Athletes (13325)

Job Description

The Academic Support Counselor for the Student-Athlete Support Program (SASP) provides academic and life skills
support to student-athletes and administers academic support services for the SASP. The Academic Support
Counselor advises student athletes on academic and life skills for selected teams (45% of student-athlete population). Academic and life skills support include topics such as organization, time management, study habits, course scheduling, career exploration, athletic injury support, and wellness referrals. The Academic Support Counselor’s program coordination responsibilities encompass managing specific academic support services provided by the Student-Athlete Support Program. The position is located in the Department of Athletics, while also maintaining records in the Academic Support and Access Center. This is a 35-hour, 12-month position.

Educational Requirements:
Master’s degree in education, counseling, student development, related field, or equivalent in education, training and experience required.

Minimum Requirements:
Two years combined experience at the post secondary level Experience in collegiate athletics Strong communication & organizational skills Excellent interpersonal skills.

Preferred Requirements:
Knowledge of NCAA regulations pertaining to academic eligibility Personal experience as a student-athlete Teaching, presentation, or facilitation experience Working knowledge of Grades First
